15 Nut Free Desserts Everyone Will Love

What treats are nut-free?

Most tasty treats come with some type of nuts in them. However, nuts do not work for everyone especially if you are prone to having an allergic reaction to it. If you must know, nuts are one of the most common foods associated with allergic reactions, so better to be safe than sorry. If you do not have an allergy to nuts but are following a strict diet, then you may want to still steer off from them for a while. Nuts to avoid when you are on a strict diet include any tree nuts and seeds such as almonds, cashews, chestnuts, hazelnuts, peanuts, Brazil nuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, walnuts, pistachios, and the likes.

But this does not mean that you cannot have your fair share of tasty treats. There are quite a number of delicious snacks and treats that are nut-free such as:

  • A whole grain popcorn
  • Nut-free chips such as Cheetos, potato chips, and organic tortilla chips
  • Whole wheat crackers
  • Rice cakes
  • Dairy treats such as a yogurt cup, cheese sticks, and pudding
  • Fresh and healthy produce such as fresh fruits (apples, banana, oranges, grapes, watermelon, etc.), and fresh vegetables (carrots, cherry tomatoes, etc).
  • Canned fruits also works well but look for those that are “in water”
  • Raisins
  • Dried fruit

You are also still free to munch on some pastries, cupcakes, cookies, and cakes but just leave the nuts out of it. And of course, to be safe, you should always read the label of the products you are buying.

What cake mixes are nut-free?

Those with peanut allergies usually avoid buying cakes or any type of pastries from bakery since they do not know if nuts have been mixed into it. And even if the cake is peanut-free, utensils used in the kitchen may have had contact with mixes that contain nuts. But does this mean that you should give up on delicious cakes? No. The best solution for this is to whip up your own cakes and pastries at home so you have full control of the ingredients used.

If you are wondering, yes, there are several cake mixes that are free of nuts. One of the most popular cake mixes for those with peanut allergies is from the Namaste Foods brand. Some Duncan Hines Cake Mixes are also nut-free as well as most Betty Crocker boxes. You can also check out Cherrybrook Kitchen as they state that their cake mixes are also free of nuts. And f course, you can also always make your own cake mix from scratch.
