18. DIY No-Sew Rope Coil Basket
Discover the method behind this DIY No-Sew rope basket easy project made with craft shop materials.
I’ve always been captivated by the elegant yet straightforward twisted cord containers. It was high time I devised a straightforward technique to craft one.
At a nearby textile depot, I stumbled upon the ideal “twisted cord” – pure cotton filler. I parted with $6 for the filler, sufficient for a generously sized container. This type of filler is typically used for upholstering and cushion-making!
While classic cord containers are crafted using sewing equipment, I chose a hassle-free route – using an adhesive gun. Relying on adhesive might not render the container as robust as its sewn counterpart. However, it’s an ideal storage for yarn crafts, plush toys, or throws. I further enhanced its appearance by incorporating leather grips.

16. How To Make A Pencil Holder With Glue Gun
No more witnessing writing tools strewn everywhere when a stylish container can house them! Discover how to craft your personalized pen and pencil organizer using the versatile hot glue technique.
In the world of arts and crafts, a bit of disorder is a side effect of the creative process. Every new creation of mine is accompanied by its fair share of scattered materials.
While I’m comfortable with temporary disarray during crafting, I strive to maintain order and neatness in other areas of my living space. Spotting writing instruments littering surfaces nudges my tidying instincts. On one such day, spotting rogue pencils became the catalyst for innovation.
Amid my brainstorming for unique adhesive gun crafts, the idea of a DIY organizer crafted from hot glue seemed like an ingenious fit!
Indeed, a stylish organizer can emerge from hot glue! I devised a method that imparts a woven-like appearance, reminiscent of traditional baskets. For those intrigued by such crafts, do continue reading to delve into more details, including insights from our dedicated adhesive craft guide.
15. Make a Snowflake Cake Topper Using Hot Glue
Craft thermal adhesive snow designs and transform them into stunning snow-themed cake embellishments! This project is ideal for wintertime, festive holidays, or welcoming the New Year.
I came across these adhesive snow patterns on hobby boards online and was immediately inspired to use them as cake adornments. Crafting with a thermal adhesive tool can be quite engaging, so I decided to dive in. After a few attempts, I mastered an uncomplicated technique to craft these charming designs.
I believe these snow motifs serve as the perfect garnish for winter birthdays, year-end festivities, or holiday desserts! Simply place them atop a readymade cake, and you’ve got an eye-catching centerpiece.
Given that budget-friendly stores stock all the necessary items, this project is an excellent cost-effective DIY.
Upon reviewing other DIY guides, I heeded advice to craft the designs on a transparent, slick base. Initially, I tried directly using adhesive on a clear plate, but faced challenges in peeling off the designs. The solution? A light mist of kitchen oil spray on the surface prior to applying adhesive. Once cooled, the designs lifted effortlessly. For precision, I drew some snow motifs on paper and attached it beneath the plate as a reference.
After shaping the designs, I attached wooden sticks using another layer of adhesive, reinforcing them further for stability.
14. Crate & Barrel Spin Vase Knock Off
I’m quite fond of Crate & Barrel, and not too long ago, I found myself longing for their Spiral Candle Holders showcased in their collection. But even their petite version comes with a price tag of $24.95. So, here’s The Thrifty Designer’s version of that Crate and Barrel Spiral Holder, with a crafting cost that barely touches a couple of bucks. All you need is a thermal adhesive tool and a vase from a discount store!
With your thermal adhesive tool, design or “twirl” a continuous adhesive trail around the exterior of the round candle container. Though I managed solo, if you’re aiming for a more meticulous appearance, you might find it beneficial to have a helper rotate the vessel as you guide the adhesive. You could either initiate from the center, working upwards and then restarting downwards, or simply begin at the base and spiral your way to the top. Interruptions and restarts are okay; a slightly irregular pattern gives it a natural charm. Ensure your spirals are close-knit but not overly so. I realized that by making contact between the tool’s tip and the holder, advancing the tool slightly ahead of the adhesive stream, resulted in a fairly even trail. However, remember, perfection isn’t the goal here, and that includes the original C & B design! Quick tip: If you notice lumpy adhesive sections, it’s perfectly alright to zigzag the tool’s tip across them while the adhesive is still warm, leveling them out. Once done, let it settle and cool down.
