Is it bad to have eggs for dinner?
Are you the type of person who loves breakfast food for dinner? Because if so, then you are not alone! And what is one common staple during breakfast? Eggs, of course.
However, you will notice that it is very rare for restaurants (or probably even your home during family dinners) to have eggs served at night. So now you may ask yourself, “Is it bad to have eggs for dinner?”.
The quick answer is no, it is not. Eggs are highly versatile and can be added to almost any type of main dish since they are scrumptious and a nutrient-dense superfood.
Eggs are commonly known to start our days right but when it comes to dinner, eggs are a lifesaver if you just want to have a quick and inexpensive meal that is full of protein!
If you are looking for ways on how to make or incorporate eggs in your dinner menu, then here are some ideas and meals to cook your eggs with:
- Pasta. You can add some delicious poached eggs.
Frittata. Easy to cook and very tasty.
- Salad. Add some extra flavor to your dinner salad.
- Broth or soup. Add something to munch on your soup or broth!
Now that you know that eggs are perfectly fine for dinner, then go whip yourself up a delicious scrambled egg and maybe a whole-wheat toast for a quick late night snack – nothing wrong with it!
You can even make your own special omelet dinner recipe! Here’s how:
Ingredients
4 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup mushrooms (coarsely chopped)
1/2 cup tomato (chopped)
3 tablespoons green onion (minced)
1/2 cup shredded cheese
Freshly ground black pepper (to taste)
Directions
- Combine the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in a medium bowl and beat well to mix.
- Place a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat and melt the butter. Pour the egg mixture into the skillet.
- Reduce the heat to low and cook eggs, pulling the mixture to the center of the pan as they cook with a spatula and gently lifting cooked portions to let the uncooked egg mixture flow underneath without breaking up the omelet.
- Cook until the eggs are just set and the bottom is light golden brown but the top is still shiny.
- Sprinkle the mushrooms, tomatoes, green onions, and cheese evenly over the eggs.
- Fold the omelet in half using the rubber spatula, cover, and let cook 1 minute longer to melt the cheese.
How many eggs can I eat for dinner?
If you are wondering how much eggs are acceptable at night, then it is good to note that one large egg contains a little more than six grams.
An average adult requires 46 grams of protein a day so eating at least two eggs will help that person reach the requirement. You should also know that eggs are low in calories so your dinner can consist of about 2 to 4 eggs.
Three large boiled eggs contain less than 240 calories.
