How To Make Yogurt In the Instant Pot
Step 1. A Clean Inner Pot Is Above All!
We never doubt that you wash your inner pot after each use. However, it is not enough when you are up to make this very food. If you don’t want a yogurt with stewed meat or steamed vegetables flavor, pay more attention to cleaning the bowl. Rinse it with very hot, almost boiling water to remove all odors.
Step 2. Boiling
Add ½ gallon of milk to the bowl, close the lid tightly and turn on the yogurt function in boiling mode. When you hear the beep, open the lid and make sure that the milk has warmed up to the desired temperature of 180 degrees. After turning off the device, you can wait another 5 minutes to get a thicker product.
Step 3. Cooling
Leave the milk to cool down to 105-110 degrees. It usually takes about an hour, but you can speed up the process if you lower the bowl into a container with cold or even icy water. In this case, you may move in 15-20 minutes!
Step 4. Removing the milk “skin” off the top
When the milk is hot you may see a very thin top layer, which is called “skin”. Someone is fond of it very much, someone can’t stand it, but, in any case, it’s not of any use for our yogurt. If you take care to remove it, you will get a product with a, particularly delicate and homogeneous consistency.
Step 5. Adding Yogurt Starter
In fact, you may use prepared yogurt as well. However, buying one in a store, make sure that it contains live and active cultures and no sweeteners or flavor. Otherwise, there will be no use of that as containing no live cultures or sweetened yogurt never works!
Step 6. Incubating
Place the bowl with the product back in your pressure cooker, close the lid tightly and leave it in yogurt mode for 8 hours – you can set the time using your device settings. Eight hours have passed? So, get the product out, put it in plastic containers or glass jars, cool them a little bit and just enjoy!
Some Tips to Enjoy Your Instant Pot Yogurt In A Right Way
