Refreshing Homemade Watermelon Recipes (No Alcohol)

What can I do with a watermelon?

Just like any type of fruit, a slice of watermelon can already give you so many health benefits. Watermelons are naturally high in Vitamin C and Vitamin A which are two important vitamins to boost skin and hair health. Furthermore, watermelon has a high water content which helps you hydrate and promote weight loss since it can help you feel full really quickly. And since watermelon is quite a big fruit, you may find it difficult to finish it in one go or even find a place to store. But do not worry because you do not need to waste all these good watermelon slices and leftovers. There are several ways on how you can prepare and store your watermelon such as:

Juice it – a homemade and natural fruit juice will always be better than the store-bought, powdered ones. And watermelon juice is the perfect refreshing drink for the summertime!

Grill it – If you are doing a backyard grilling with the family, then don’t miss the chance to make some delicious fruit kebabs with watermelon in it!

Make a fruit bowl – watermelon goes perfectly well with other fruits so don’t hesitate to add some little watermelon slices along with fruits such as pineapple, apple, grapes, and more!

Pickle it – pickled watermelon rinds are perfect to toss into salads or roasted meats. Plus, you can simply store it until you feel like snacking on it.

Make a smoothie – you can simply make a watermelon smoothie on its own or incorporate it with other fruits such as strawberries or bananas! Add in some yogurt and honey for that extra flavor, as well.

Make a salsa – create a refreshing and tasty dip for your chips and nachos by simply chopping your watermelon into chunks then adding in some onion, jalapeno, lime juice, and a little salt and pepper.

Watermelon ice – add some color and taste to your ice by scooping some small balls of watermelon and placing it on a baking sheet or ice cube tray, then freezing it for at least an hour.

Watermelon popsicle – this summer treat is easy to make and will surely be loved by you and your kids! Just slice some watermelon, stick in a popsicle stick, then store it in your freezer for about an hour or until frozen.

What do you eat watermelon with?

Usually, watermelons are already delicious and quite filling on their own. But if you want to try out something new or you just need to add some extra flavor while snacking on your watermelon, then here are some food pairings that you can eat watermelon with:

  • Avocado
  • Honey
  • Spices
  • Cucumber
  • Coconut
  • Pork
  • Lemon
  • Lime
  • Shrimp
  • Cheese
  • Berries
  • Chicken
  • Beans
  • Pulses
  • Other fruits
  • Green salad
  • Prosciutto
