I absolutely love game day. Why? I used to crouch in the sofa every night with a couple of friends to play some video games. Our eyes would be glued to the monitor for hours, no end. It’s one of the things that takes away all the stress from a day’s work or in our case, school. Unfortunately, when we started working for ourselves, it was hard to spare some time for video games. So, whenever I get the opportunity to do so, I really make it extra special. How? I cook something everyone will love. Let me share with you some of the game day food ideas I had back in the days.
What Are Good Snacks For Game Night?
So, before we start delving into the food ideas I’ve been obsessed over back in the days, here is an interesting question: what are good snacks for game night?
For sure, we are going to want to eat something while playing video games with our friends. But what are we going to eat?
If you’re someone like me then you absolutely love to eat some cereal in the morning. But cereal isn’t the kind of food that you’d want to eat on a game night, is it? No!. Don’t get me wrong. The cereal is fantastic but if you serve it at game night, it would certainly be a waste of a good occasion.
So, let me share with you some of the kind of food that I think would be most suitable for game night. And then you can let me know if you agree with me or not in the comment section.
- Grilled Cheese
- Pizza
- Chicken Nuggets
- Chips and Dip
- Fruit
Now, those don’t sound like a healthy snack, except for the last one of course. On our next blog, perhaps we could think about turning those favorites into something Weight Watchers worthy. But for now, we ought to proceed to fantastic food ideas.
NFL Game Day Food Ideas
When we talk about game night or game day, we usually think about dusting off the playstation. But game day can be as simple as watching a good game of NFL with a couple of friends or even with your bros.
Excitement starts kicking in. You start punching your brother in the shoulder. You start screaming and pulling at each other’s hair. And if that’s not enough to express your excitement, what follows next is munching on some of your game day favorites. Now, here are some NFL game day food ideas that you might want to explore.
- Guacamole
- Cocktails
- Pizza
- Pizza Dip
- Salsa
- Carne Asada Fries
- Chicken Wings
- Corndogs
- Crispies
- Hot Crab Dip
Those were a lot of food ideas we’ve listed back there just for a single game day. Well, you’ll be surprised just how fast you can run out of food if your favorite quarterback is out there winning a match.
Game Day Good For 2
Even though all of us here absolutely loves game day, there are a bunch of people who don’t enjoy all that well. You see, game day usually means that friends come in groups. And you can expect that they’ll be shrieking and shouting their favorite teams on the television.
And if you’re someone who wants some quiet time, you won’t enjoy the noise at all. If you can relate to that scenario, that doesn’t mean that you have to avoid watching sports altogether. You can pick a friend or a sibling who can accompany you on game day. Give that a try and also give this a try: Game day good for 2. Here are some food ideas that you can try.
- Buffalo Chicken Dip
- French Onion Dip
- Avocado Dip & Totchos
- Mexican Breakfast Chilaquiles
- Korean Beef Lettuce Wraps
- Baguette Pizza
- Creamy Beer Cheese
- Peanut Butter and Jelly
- Skillet Cookie Sundaes
Game Day Finger Food
Now some people like to keep it simple. My best friend is one example of this. She’s just as crazy about video games and NFL games as much as I am but you’ll never catch her taking a piece of pizza on game day. She prefers a bit more customary approach such as finger foods. And for the sake of people who categorizes her, here are some game day finger food ideas.
- Vegan Queso
Wouldn’t you agree that it’s one of the most wonderful things you’ve laid your eyes on?
- Jamaican Meat Pie Footballs
Don’t eat it just yet. Better take pictures of it as well as some selfies. They are bound to taste good but you’ll like them even better if people are liking your photos on social media because of it.
- Spiced Mixed Cocktail Nuts with Pretzels
It’s an appetizer. It may not seem as fancy as chips and dip or corndogs but it’ll certainly spice you up for the game.
- Pastrami Football Finger Sandwiches
Here’s one more snack that is worth a photo or two. They all look so pretty that you won’t want to eat them.
- Jerk Pulled Pork Sliders
Game day wouldn’t be complete without these pork sliders.
Game Day Meals For Athletes
I’m going, to be honest with you. When I hear the term “ game day”, the first thing that comes to mind is a couple of kids who can’t wait to watch their favorite sports.
But that’s not the only thing to it. Gameday can also be for the actual athletes. In this case, food is of uttermost importance to them. If they don’t eat enough, they won’t have the energy to play a good game.
So, I’m just putting this out here as a bonus. Maybe you have family members, friends, or perhaps a fiance who plays sports. If that’s the case, you could totally make good use of these game day meals for athletes.
- Water
This isn’t exactly a drink but it’s still something important for athletes to consume before a game.
- Energy Drink
I want to say the same thing about water. It’s a must-have for athletes.
- Meat and rice
Pizza and burgers are okay but to collect enough energy, rice, and meat is certainly something you’d want to serve your athletic loved ones.
- Yogurt
This will definitely calm the tummy of every athlete right before a game.
