Quick Breakfast Ideas – Best Recipes One Can Make In Under 20 Minutes

What is a well-balanced breakfast?

I know that even as a child, your parents will encourage you to eat breakfast because it is considered as the most important meal of the day. And they are not wrong on that. There are many health benefits your breakfast can give you. This includes kick-starting your metabolism and helping you burn calories throughout the day. This means that breakfast provides us the needed energy to keep us going the whole day. Breakfast also improves your concentration and energy levels. And if you are on a weight loss journey, breakfast will help you reduce the chance of overconsuming high kilojoule foods throughout the day. So if you skip your breakfast, you deprive your body of getting all of the nutrients it needs.

Now, you might wonder what types of food you should eat to have a well-balanced breakfast. You do not need anything fancy or expensive. For a healthy and nutritious breakfast, you just have to avoid processed foods and instead consume any of these five food groups: fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy, and protein foods.

  • Fruits and vegetables – can include fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables.
  • Grains – includes whole-grain rolls, whole-grain cereals, whole-grain waffles, and more.
  • Protein foods – specifically lean proteins such as eggs, lean meat, nuts, and legumes.
  • Dairy – try to consume low-fat dairy as much as possible. This includes milk, plain yogurt, and low-fat or natural cheese.

What is an easy breakfast to eat at home?

If you are wondering what to eat for breakfast if you are in a rush or running out of time, then do not worry because you can still get your fix of nutrients even with just a simple breakfast. You can simply fry a few eggs and get some slices of whole-wheat bread, and you will be fine. Cereal is also a good choice but always pick whole-grain cereals instead of those that have a high sugar level. But if you want a proper breakfast without feeling the need to hurry, then it is best to prepare your food overnight.

With that said, here are some easy breakfast choices you can make and eat at home:

  • Whole wheat tortilla filled with vegetables
  • Sausage or bacon
  • Whole grain toast with peanut butter or avocado
  • Fresh fruit bowl and yogurt
  • Fruit or vegetable smoothies
  • Boiled eggs with whole-grain toast
  • Whole grain cereals with low-fat milk
  • Porridge with fresh fruit
  • French toast made with whole-wheat bread
