I’m all about parties! From festive Christmas gatherings to laid-back pool shindigs, parties are my jam. The fun, the dancing, the people, and yes, the drinks – they all make for an unforgettable time. But let’s not forget about the desserts.
A party without something sweet is, well, just a meeting, right? If you’re not a pro in the kitchen, don’t worry. Here are 20 simple, yet totally delicious desserts for parties and for any occasion. Just save them and give them a try; your guests will thank you!
Bite-Size Holiday Desserts
I know most of you spend a lot of time at small parties. Perhaps a friend’s birthday party or a bachelor party. We call these small parties because there are usually a small number of people that are invited. It’s more personal.

The party thrower wants to spend time with people that are close to them. So, that’s a small party and during parties like this, desserts include cake, ice cream, or pudding. You get a scoop, a slice, a cup.
But when you’re at bigger parties, there just isn’t enough cake or ice cream to go around. When that happens, the best sweets to serve people are bite-size desserts. Let me tell you about my favorite bite-size holiday desserts:
- Peanut Butter Snowballs
Everyone loves peanut butter. A tray of peanut butter snowballs is bound to be empty in no time if you serve them at a party.
- Mini Fruitcakes
My friends and I go crazy for this stuff. You’ll commonly find this at almost every party.
- Mini Sweet Potato Pies
I don’t know about you but I absolutely love sweet potatoes. If you do serve these at your party, just make sure to pack on a lot of extras because the sugary taste is bound to get your visitors to come wanting more.

- S’mores No-Bake Cookies
Who says S’mores are only good for camping. You can spice it up a bit and turn it into cookies perfect for party bite-size sweets.

Cheap Homemade Desserts
I really love to throw parties. I mean there is no better way to enjoy a weekend than to go crazy with a couple of friends.
But parties are a bit costly and if you are looking for a way to minimize the cost without compromising the quality of the party, these cheap homemade desserts would be a good alternative.
- Cherry Fudge
- Berries with Vanilla Custard
- Crunchy Chocolate Mint Balls
- Ice Cream Sundae
- Cranberry Pecan Cookies
- Frosty Watermelon Ice
- Caramel Apple Slices
- Strawberry Pillows
- Ice Cream Cookie Dessert

You’d be surprised. Even though these desserts aren’t the expensive types, they don’t disappoint in terms of taste.
I went to a friend’s party and at the center was a large velvet cake from Doughboys. It looked really delicious. I ate around two slices along with the rest of the squad.
There were some macaroons from Anchorage’s Sweet Caribou and bread pudding from B Sweet Dessert Bar. We tried a couple of those as well.
Just when the party was almost over, I noticed that there were still some desserts at the back of the living room. These were the Caramel apple slices and frosty watermelon ice.
They seemed to be untouched and unnoticed. Just decided to give them a try and behold, they tasted really amazing. One really can’t judge the quality of a dessert based on whether they were bought from a fancy store or homemade.
The other desserts were delicious too but this made me realize how much homemade desserts are underrated at parties.
Easy Finger Food Desserts For Parties
Even though finger food is smaller in size, they seem to be more delectable compared to the bigger desserts.
Finger food desserts are just so cute. I don’t know if you’re looking for new finger food desserts to emulate for your party or if you haven’t tried small desserts before and you’re just about to give it a try but to start you off, let me share with you some easy finger food desserts for parties that I find to be most popular with guests:
- Red Velvet Cake Truffles
Red velvet cake is impossible to resist especially when they are made in such miniature size.
- Brown Bites
Chocolate isn’t the only thing that leads people to crave more. It’s actually the moist feeling that it leaves on our mouth. It’s like we can never get enough off it.

- Mini Cheesecakes
Cheesecakes are one of the most popular desserts in the US. I Googled but let me tell you. Cheesecake has already been my favorite dessert before I learned about this fact.

- Strawberry Cheesecake Bites
These are real strawberries filled with cream cheese and drizzled with chocolate. With so much sweet goodness, who could resist?
Desserts That Are Easy to Transport
You might imagine parties being held at someone’s house. But you can also throw a party at a different venue. Some people like to hold parties near nature. Maybe at a park or a summer home.
I’ve never thrown a party at a summer home before but my cousin did and I was invited. I wanted to bring desserts to the party. I have to say. It wasn’t easy to decide on the kind of desserts to bring.
Most desserts aren’t easy to travel with. But after a while, I finally got to a final list of desserts. So, let me share with you some of my favorite desserts that are easy to transport. You never know when the information will come in handy.
- Coconut Lemon Cupcakes
I don’t know why but these cupcakes really felt perfect for a summer home. Maybe it’s the nature vibe.
- Easy Stone Fruit Galette
These things taste amazing but the taste is only part of its charm. You’ll notice that the shapes are a bit rougher around the edges and that’s just the design. It’s meant to look good and taste good.
- Blackberry Cheesecake Cups
We love cheesecakes but in their regular size, they can be a bit wobbly. Baking them in miniature sizes is more conducive for travel since you can pack them in an airtight container.
