Let me start off by saying that there is always (more) room for dessert. Be it a simple bite out of a chocolate bar or a slice of cake, you can’t just deny the happiness and satisfaction it gives you that will make your meal complete. And it helps also that sweet snacks increase the production of our “happiness hormone”.

But of course, questions like “What are healthier choices of desserts and sweets?”, or “What types of snacks should I avoid?” will pop up especially if you are on a diet or have a goal to maintain. 

What sweets can I eat on Weight Watchers?

If you’ve been on Weight Watchers for quite some time, you will most probably know that they don’t prohibit any food to eat—yes, that includes sweet treats! That means you can still freely eat cookies, cakes, muffins, and other baked sweets that are still low on Smart Points. Just because you are on a diet doesn’t mean you can have the pleasure of eating your favorite treats. But then again, there are some sets of sweets that have higher Smart Points than others so do keep in mind to eat your desserts in moderation.

  • Try natural alternate sweeteners designed for baking instead of sugar or artificial sweeteners in cakes, muffins, slices, and biscuits.
  • Swap butter for a reduced-fat spread in baking. In many cakes and muffins, you can also substitute half the spread for no-added-sugar apple puree or mashed banana (this keeps the texture moist with less fat)

Personally, snacks are an essential part of my day, especially that I work almost the whole day. Whenever I feel tired, stressed, or slightly hungry, I just grab a quick snack to re-energize. It’s a good thing that there is no recommended number of snacks to eat each day when you’re on the Weight Watchers program. But of course, you need to plan out your snacks smartly that will work within your lifestyle and schedule—whether you are in your office, school, or in the comfort of your own home
